first post = hardest!

Of course, the first post in a blog is the hardest.  The first sentence in a book, magazine article, maybe even a letter.  The writer has to come up with a fabulous intro, right?  Something catchy, maybe even profound.  Nah, this is not that hard.  I've blogged before.  My husband hasn't, so I'm very interested to see his posts and his perspective on blogging.  But it will be fun collaborating on this. 

We're definitely collaborators.  We've been collaborating since 1983.  On a great marriage, on the raising of two wonderful kids, and on keeping sane while juggling full time jobs and a household.  It's been a fun and wild ride, and we're at a time in our lives where we're really enjoying hanging around together and just doing stuff.  As mentioned on our "about" page, we're a husband and wife who just simply like to do diy projects.  We like to create stuff, fix household problems, cook, design, and more.  And we want to share; hence this site and these blogs.

We love to work in the yard.  We garden, and we compost.  As much as a suburbanite can.  We have an in ground pool.  There should be an entire blog dedicated to the wows and woes of having an in ground pool!  As it turns out, the husband is pretty darned handy, and he saves us literally thousands of dollars a year fixing and replacing things.  And I don't mean jury-rigging; he has the know-how to fix things properly.  And he's determined.  Oh, I won't say that every job goes completely smooth, but the hubby is willing to give it a try.  AND, he knows his limitations (most of the time).

Okay, he's going to think this blog is all about him.  So welcome.  We hope you find ideas and helpful tips, and maybe even some inspiration.
