pimp my potting bench

Okay, long story and a lot of excuses as to why it's been ALMOST A YEAR since our last DIY post.  But let's just get past that.  Here's proof that we have been busy.  There were already some pictures in our gallery of my beloved potting bench made by my hubby and eldest son a few years back.  We always talked of adding onto it, like including a sink I found on the markdown rack at Lowe's.  So finally, it's complete.  Oh it was totally great before; it's large and ever so useful, and not just for potting.  When we entertain on the patio (the 2.5 weeks of decent, not-too-blazing-hot weather in north Texas) we use it for serving.  An entire lizard village lives in and around it.  Dogs have been bathed upon it. So now, with the addition of the sink,  center legs in the front and back for added support, a new shelf across the top, and galvanized metal enclosing the lower area (so as not to see all my tools, bins, potting soil, etc.), not to mention the double doors on the front framed with the same pallet wood, well, it's basically perfect.  More useful than ever before, and even quite eye-catching.

before (brand "new!")

after (a thing of beauty!)

after (a thing of beauty!)

As you can see, the wood has weathered over time, and there was getting to be quite a sag in the middle, but with the new added support, it is now shored up and should last a couple hundred years.  As it should.
