tip of the day: driving screws

When getting ready to use a “manual” screwdriver to sink a screw into a hard substance, try coating the threads with candle wax or bar soap. This acts as a lubricant and makes the job quicker and easier. Works for nails too! Before my introduction to power drivers I kept small pieces of broken candles in my tool bag for just such use.
