tip of the day: mowing the lawn
Really, two tips here.
Trim first before you mow. I know, it sounds like a no-brainer, but really, some people just don't. A lot of times the "matter" you trim out is long pieces and you definitely want that incorporated into what you "cut up" with the mower.
Secondly, change directions each time you mow. It really does promote a healthier lawn. I try to do the four essential directions, so nothing gets mowed the same way for four weeks. Based on your lawn as a sort of box or rectangular shape, mow north to south, east to west, and diagonally both directions. Otherwise, you'll eventually get ruts, and even divots where you turn each time.
