tip of the day: shelter for everyone!

First of all - Happy Earth Day!   Hope everybody can find (at least) ONE thing to do to help our ol' Mother Planet today!

So here's a tip:  make sure to have cool hideaways and niches for your "good" critters.  On our patio, we have a lot of potted plants - herbs, succulents, annuals, etc., that if not for the several lizards that live amongst them, would be open to bugs and diseases.  Our lizards (mostly house geckos and spiny lizards) take care of them for us, eating almost every weird thing that lands on our plants.  The lizards love to hang out in the pots, but they need other shelter as well.  (Birds and larger animals will go after them.)  This guy has designated this old birdhouse as his home base.  He and some smaller of his species live in and on it all year round.
