tip of the day: got tired mulch? try river rocks!
Bark mulch is great for so many things. But after a while it needs sprucing up. It breaks down year after year and you should "refresh" it as needed, but some places are not the best for mulch. Take the area in this picture. This bed is adjacent to a swimming pool, and the bark mulch that was here previously posed problems. In the heat of the summer, the concrete and rocks surrounding it would cause it to break down and bleach out (not to mention getting constantly splashed with chlorinated water). It's also not great to walk on. Well, neither are hot river rocks, but at least they aren't rough and have splinters. This was the perfect solution for this location. And the Gold Star Esperanza parked in the middle really appreciates the new makeover!
